The Never-ending Quest for the Best
Packing materials that is, and on that front, the ever present corrugated box is king. They may seem flimsy but they are quite tough, able to withstand a lot of weight but once damaged they are as weak as paper. The boxes we see today are marvels of engineering thought they are merely boxes they have been designed for the purpose they were to serve. The corrugation provides structural integrity, even at load some are even treated to survive moist conditions, with a plastic or wax treatment applied. Unknown to most, they do come in rated forms according to the materials we will be placing into them. Browsing around the many moving help sites, you now get on easy use kit-type sets that contains mostly what you need to get all your stuff done based on statistical analysis done by moving firms. The contents of these kits vary according to the number of rooms and the size of the family that is to use them. They have the boxes, packing tapes and extra’s such as peanuts (for packing fragile materials) and even my child’s favorite, the forever entertaining bubble wrap.
Many focus on the move without paying particular attention to the materials they would be using for moving, this leaves them with a bit of a headache when they unpack fragile items. The move itself should be a well oiled machine but don’t be too strict for there will be hiccups. From the packing schedule to the actual move, you need to work in conjunction with your mover, providing them with the list or inventory of items to be moved. From the number of boxes to the number of heavy items and fragile ones, they are checked, loaded and then re-checked upon unloading with you verifying it of course. More on the process in the coming posts, till then be safe and keep safe.
